Terms of Service

By using switchboardhome.com (the “Service”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

What we are

Switchboard Home is an educational decision tool and a contractor referral service. We are not a licensed contractor. We do not install water heaters or perform any electrical, plumbing, or construction work. We do not take payment for installation work.

No warranties on outputs

Calculator results, cost ranges, rebate amounts, exemption assessments, and recommendations are educational estimates. They are based on publicly-cited sources at the dates indicated. Final eligibility, pricing, code compliance, and rebate availability are determined by your contractor, BAAQMD, your utility, and other applicable agencies — not by us.

We do not warrant that the Service is error-free, that costs will match your contractor’s quote, that you will qualify for a specific exemption or rebate, or that any particular contractor is suitable for your project.

Contractor relationships

Contractors in our network are independently licensed and insured. Any installation contract is between you and the contractor directly. We are not a party to your contract with the contractor. We do not warrant the work performed or guarantee pricing, scheduling, or outcome.

We vet contractors based on objective criteria (license status, reviews, rebate program participation) but vetting is not a substitute for your own due diligence. Verify license status at the CSLB before signing any contract.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: scrape the Service in ways that disrupt availability, submit fraudulent lead information, impersonate other people, or use the Service for purposes other than its intended use as a homeowner decision tool.

Intellectual property

All content on the Service (cornerstone guides, calculator logic, site copy, design system) is owned by East Peak Labs and licensed for personal use. You may share links to our content. You may not republish substantial portions without permission.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, East Peak Labs and its affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service or your engagement with any contractor referred through the Service. Our total liability is limited to $100.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless East Peak Labs from any claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your contracts with contractors, or your violation of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and announce material changes via banner on the site for 30 days.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of San Francisco County.
